How FireFlash works
- Learn
A silent animation shows one idea at a time, with the key science words on the card.
- Review
Questions with feedback. Ideas a student misses come back for another try.
- Mastery
A final set of questions shows what each student can do on their own, then a printable certificate.
More than a flash card
A paper flash card or a digital task card asks a question. A FireFlash card teaches the idea first. Students watch water evaporate into invisible vapor, a seed sprout, or a magnet pull steel across a gap, and only then answer questions about it.
Every pack follows the same Learn → Review → Mastery path, so students know what to expect and teachers can see which ideas needed a second try.
Made for real classrooms
The cards are silent, so they work on a classroom screen for whole-class teaching or on student devices during quiet practice. Students open a pack from a link or QR code their teacher shares; there are no student accounts to set up.
FireFlash runs in the web browser on laptops, tablets and Chromebooks. Progress is saved in the browser on that device, and a student who finishes can print a certificate or save it as a PDF.
Every card is written for young readers: short sentences, science words taught before they are tested, and pictures only when the question is about what the picture shows.

Questions teachers ask
What is FireFlash?
FireFlash is a web app of silent, animated science learning cards for elementary students. Each pack teaches a topic one idea at a time with Learn animations, then checks understanding with Review and Mastery questions.
Which grades is FireFlash for?
FireFlash has science series for Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4. The Grade 3 Science in Motion series has 11 packs; the Grade 2 and Grade 4 series each have a free pack now, with more on the way.
Is FireFlash free?
Some packs are free to open with no unlock code, including The Water Cycle and Weather Detectives. Other packs are unlocked with a code from the K12 Movie Guides store.
Do students need accounts or an app?
No. Students open a pack in the web browser from a link or QR code their teacher shares. Progress is saved in the browser on that device.
Does FireFlash have sound?
No. Every card is silent, so FireFlash works in a quiet room, on a shared classroom screen, or without headphones.
How is FireFlash different from flash cards or task cards?
Flash cards and task cards mostly ask questions. FireFlash teaches each idea with a short animation first, then asks questions with feedback and brings back the ideas a student missed.
