What students investigate
The pack starts with an important idea: seeing animals together is not enough; you have to watch what they do. Wild dogs chase as a pack, though success can change. A honeybee's dance guides other bees to food, and a meerkat's call changes how its group looks for danger.
Muskoxen face danger in a line or circle, penguins huddle to save energy in the cold, fire ants form a floating raft when water rises, and larger salmon groups had less average predator risk in one study. The last cards teach students to compare similar animals, measure what happened, and give a careful answer.
Who it is for
This pack is written for Grade 3 life science. It suits a unit on how animals survive and leads into writing an argument from evidence.
It pairs well with Fossils, which also asks students to tell evidence from a guess.
What students learn
10 learning ideas, one at a time. Each one is a silent animated Learn card, then Review and Mastery questions.
- Watching what animals do shows more than seeing them together.
- Wild dogs can chase as a pack, but success can change.
- A honeybee’s dance can guide other bees toward food.
- A meerkat’s call can change how groupmates look for danger.
- Muskoxen can use a line or circle to face danger together.
- A penguin huddle helps birds save energy in cold weather.
- Fire ants can link into a floating raft when water rises.
- Larger salmon groups had less average predator risk in one study.
- Good checks compare similar animals and measure what happened.
- A strong science answer links an observation to a careful reason.

Inside the pack
How it works in class
- Learn. 10 silent whiteboard animations, one idea per card. No audio, so it works on a classroom screen or a quiet device.
- Review. 30 practice questions with feedback. Ideas a student misses come back.
- Mastery. 30 questions to show what each student knows on their own.
- Certificate. A student who finishes can print a certificate or save it as a PDF. It shows first-try Review and Mastery results and the ideas that needed a retry.
Standards connections
These cards support parts of the following NGSS performance expectations. They do not replace hands-on investigations.

Questions teachers ask
Does the pack say groups always help animals survive?
No. It teaches a careful answer: some groups can help in some situations, and good evidence compares similar animals and measures what happened.
Which animals are in the pack?
Wild dogs, honeybees, meerkats, muskoxen, penguins, fire ants and salmon.
