What students investigate
Students start with clues: a change in temperature can be evidence that energy moved. They follow light from a source to a surface, compare a tile in sun and shade, watch heat move from a warmer object toward a cooler one, and see how insulation slows that heat on a pipe.
Then the pack turns to sound and electricity. A vibrating band makes sound that carries energy to a receiver, a complete circuit with a battery and switch lights a bulb, and electric current makes a motor turn. The last card asks students to choose the explanation that matches the results of a fair comparison.
Who it is for
Energy Transfer is written for Grade 4 physical science and is a natural first pack for the year. It leads into Motion & Collisions, which looks at energy of motion, and Energy Conversions, which designs devices that change energy from one form to another.
The cards interpret observations that are already recorded on screen, so they fit well before or after a hands-on circuit or sunlight activity of your own.
What students learn
10 learning ideas, one at a time. Each one is a silent animated Learn card, then Review and Mastery questions.
- Observed changes can give evidence that energy moved.
- Light transfers energy from a source to a receiving surface.
- Comparing matched tests can show how sunlight warms a surface.
- Heat transfers from warmer objects toward cooler objects.
- Insulation slows heat transfer in a matched comparison.
- Sound is produced when materials vibrate.
- Sound transfers energy through matter to another place.
- A complete conducting circuit lets current operate a bulb.
- Electric current transfers energy that can make devices work.
- Good explanations of energy transfer match observations from fair comparisons.

Inside the pack
How it works in class
- Learn. 10 silent whiteboard animations, one idea per card. No audio, so it works on a classroom screen or a quiet device.
- Review. 30 practice questions with feedback. Ideas a student misses come back.
- Mastery. 30 questions to show what each student knows on their own.
- Certificate. A student who finishes can print a certificate or save it as a PDF. It shows first-try Review and Mastery results and the ideas that needed a retry.
Standards connections
These cards support parts of the following NGSS performance expectations. They do not replace hands-on investigations.

Questions teachers ask
Is Energy Transfer free?
Yes. No unlock code is needed. Share it with students from Share with students in FireFlash.
Which kinds of energy transfer does it cover?
Light, heat, sound and electric current, plus how insulation slows heat and how a fair comparison supports an explanation.
Do students build real circuits?
No. The cards are animations. They pair well with a classroom circuit activity that follows your school's safety rules.
